2012 Educators' Choice Award Recipients This was the second year for Triad’s professional teaching award for certified staff, called the "Educators’ Choice Award". This award recognizes tenured staff members in Triad Schools who, by their continued efforts for students and toward excellence in the profession, has demonstrated outstanding ability as an educator. Specifically, the educator has demonstrated distinction in the five criteria of Leadership, Innovation, Communication, Curricular Knowledge, and Professional Growth. To explain a little about the process… Selection was based on a two-part process. First, an on-line system was created so that certified staff members could cast one vote for what they determined was the most worthy nominations. The nomination forms had the name of the building and person removed in an effort to keep the judgment of the nomination more closely aligned to the criteria. Second, the district’s professional recognition committee who helped formulate the award, evaluated the nomination forms in greater depth using a scoring rubric. Hence the name, Educators’ Choice Award. The award winners received an original piece of artwork done by Triad High School Art classes. The artwork depicts their version of the five criteria areas - Leadership, Innovation, Communication, Curricular Knowledge, and Professional Growth and how that is symbolized on a person’s profile. We want to honor and congratulate the two recipients chosen for 2012:

The start of the spring season brings the anticipation of the athletic camps available to students in our area. The Triad Athletic Department is offering a variety of camps to enhance the abilities of young athletes. Athletes will be able to participate in numerous activities that coordinate with the Triad athletic programs. Camp dates start as early as May and continue through July. In the past, the Triad District camp schedules were distributed to the students at all of the District buildings. This year, the Triad District, in an effort to reduce waste, will post the camp schedule and form at the link provided and on every building’s homepage and on the Parent Resource page. There will be forms available in each building’s school office. Camp forms should be mailed to Triad High School, 703 E. US Hwy 40, Troy, IL 62294 or brought to the High School Office. Please submit a form for each camp your student(s) will attend. For additional information, Parents/Guardians may contact Jeff Faulkenberg at Jeffrey.Faulkenberg@triadunit2.org. Those Who Excel Recipient Announced The Triad School District is excited to announce Kathy Cook as the recipient of the Those Who Excel Award by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE). ISBE recognizes educators throughout the state for their outstanding contributions and commitment to public education. Mrs. Cook is a third grade teacher at C. A. Henning Elementary School. She is a leader in the field of education and demonstrates compassion for her students while putting their needs first. Mrs. Cook has been an instructional coach for the district and presents at numerous conferences where she shares her expertise with others. Congratulations Mrs. Cook! |
Emerson Excellence in Teaching Award For the last two years, Mrs. Pruett has implemented a 4th and 5th grade multiage level class. She embraced the multiage concept as a catalyst to explore and use research-based best practices in an educationally rich environment. She has made the multiage classroom configuration successful and beneficial for all her students. Not only is this evident by the growth of her students academically, socially and emotionally, but also by the positive environment that exists within her classroom community.
Mrs. Pruett is known as a leader and well regarded among her colleagues as an expert of instructional practice that leads to student growth and achievement. Although Mrs. Pruett serves as a mentor to most, she continues to be innovative and eager to try new practices in her classroom.
Even though the majority of Mrs. Pruett’s time is spent on classroom preparation and instruction, she manages to find time to attend nearly every event that takes place throughout the school year at St. Jacob Elementary. Laura Pruett is a superior educator and very deserving of the Emerson Excellence in Teaching Award. |
